Skiing has advanced drastically only in the last 30 years. New materials and advanced technology introduced through the equipment to the mountains made it possible to explore newer and wilder terrain.

Snowboarding is a much younger sport than skiing… in the mid 70’s carpenter Jake Burton and Tom Sims decided that surfing snow might be a good idea. Copying wave surfing and the attitude of skateboarding, they took an old invention called “Snurfur” (a standup snow sled) attached bindings to it, added a bit of skiing technology and abracadabra B! We have snowboarding!!!

Snowboarding allows easy floating on soft virgin snow. Combine snowboarding with the natural virgin slopes of Gulmarg, and you can not go wrong!!!

Snowshoes have been invented by the America's Indians way back. This was the only winter transportation mode when it came to walking across fresh snow.
Snowshoes are basically worn over normal cold weather shoes. They look somewhat like tennis rackets. The idea is simple… as fresh snow is soft our body weight drives us down in to the snow, making it impossible to walk. The snow shoes simply gives us a wider foot base transferring our body weight on to a wider surface. That way we sink less through the soft snow and are able to walk around and enjoy the magical world of winter.
The old snowshoes were made out of wood, leather and animal tendons.
Today’s snowshoes are made out of aluminums, and light plastics. The harness that connects to your feet is more convenient and supportive than the original snowshoes a fact that makes it easy and comfortable to use. With adding ski poles for balance it is laterally a “walk in the park”.
Snowshoeing is easy!!!
If you can walk, then you can snowshoe! It is that simple!!!
